INTRODUCTION

Greetings! Well, here s the latest assault to your senses - maybe
the last. I've done 22 of thess, incuding arcoupte-of spiits: There-are:
afew rants, some graphics, a few news clippings, an email account
of Lionel’s arrest, letterfronTa prisoner, & long piece orr refigiorr by-
James Bauhaus, a piece on Vietnam and my College of Complexes
‘Address, which | gave on March 15th, two days before the bombs

rained down on Baghdad and throughout Iraq.

Many people find these zines objectionable for one reason or
another, although none of them have really interviewed me at all. Lots
of regular people, in and out of prison like them, appreciate them-and
find them useful and refreshing. That's cool. That's why | crafted
them the way | did. It's called Thought Bombs for a reason. With so
litle outrage being voiced, | thought Id shout t out - be an anarchist!

After the latest round of genocide, the hideous lies and the gloryi
in both, it makes my ranfing and raving seem so tame. My aggressive
advocacy and organizing efforts prelty much have fallen on deaf ears:
Iried to will people to become organized - something they obviously
are not really all that wiling to do, at least not in ways I had hoped.

“The State has been really been hassling me, lately. My neighbors
are having their homes bulldozed for-arr umvanted, unneeded irport:
My workplace was shutdown on March 19th and | was transferred to
& morbid prace of nonstop work, less pay and much harassment. |
feel like 'm being stalked. | guess their intent s to get me fired.

Important prisoners, such as Kevin (Rashid) Johnson and Andy
(John Two-Names) Riendeau have been slammed for collaborating
‘with me and my distro is being targetted as a subversive ‘call.”

A comrade, George Brewton, aged forty, was recently killed in a
dreadfull construction accident. A lifelong friend committed suicide
by overdose to avoid returning to prison for a b.s. parole violation.

So, I'm sort of shell-shocked (like a lot of peaple, lately.) My time
has been severely strained and I've lost a lot of time that | had used to
craft zines with. I'l have to scale way back, unfortunately. But, some
good things have happened the last few months, too. Eraina Dunn, a
loving, dedicated community organizer from Harvey, got married,
shortly before Christmas. Richard Flood won his appeal and may be
freed soon and my family is doing well and we're all pretty healthy.

Ive crafted several powerful zines the last few months. The one by
Rashid, is particularly impressive, in my opinion. John (Two-Names)
did a great zine focusing on his situation and that of Sekou Kambui
‘and other Alabama prisoners. Eugene Dey and | worked on a terrific
zine about the California *three strikes,” the drug war, hepatitis and
many other issues. 'm proud to have editted one called Prisoners'
Speak! So, | guess Il adjust and confinue to be an acfive anarchist

You know when a plane crashes there’s
usually not much left. Sometimes people do
survive to live another day. But, what about a
society that one by one in an endless daily
parade in countless courtrooms across the
country, actually abducts their own people?
Then they are handcuffed and escorted into a
cell and incorporated into a vast, crowded ever—
expanding gulag system! What then?

Who's gonna bring that paycheck home?
Who's gonna be the parent for those children?
Wiho's gonna read to them, play with them, be

with them, take them to do stuff and sleep in
the house and keep it safe?

4 How is all this bitterness going to
hanifest itself? How far will the judicial
corruption, with the lamprey lawyers, smarmy
prosecutors, nazi jail guards and godawful
judges, go? What wil be the extent of the lack
of shame the politicians feel as they’re yanked
and jangled by their corporate string pullers?
How hellish, confining flag-wavin’ and
ritalinized must the schools become? How robot
monstrous will the police get? How young will
the kids in jail be? Newborn?

How about the food? Besides breeding a
population of mindless obese sheep (while the
world starves!) how genetically modified will
our cells become? Will we still be ourselves -
our real selves or just soulless “living”
coordinated body parts! Ask your clone!

Water!! Where’s that gonna come from - a
complicated machine? In a plastic bottle?

How much global suffering are we gonna
allow ourselves to stupidly cheer for to satiate
the Stalinesque bloodlust of our billionaire
“leaders” before we stop ourselves and point
towards living a genuine life in resistance to
this!? How much daily predation can we take?

Remember Peace Prize winners Jimmy Carter
and Henry Kissinger, who helped to slaughter
half of the people of East Timor!? During one
machine-gunning of a massive demonstration, the
people just plain kept moving forward, anyway! ¢
They finally had nothing left to lose!

Americans have to stop Amerika! The war is
on this soil, too! It’s not just Vietnam or El

1 and a recent acquaintance held a 'No more War
on Traq" banner at about 8 a.m. on Priday March
216t near Federal Plaza in Chicago. There is
Anti-var talk and pro-poace music accospanied by
parades outside this Federal office complex.

I see a group of persons lay down nearby, many
aze covered with messages on cloth patches.
Police and Federal contractors begin to close a
fance against mo and a Chicago police officor
points toward the bodies on the sidewalk and says
Tgo". He gots next to me and knocks me to the
ground. I was cuffed with plastic restraints and
Taid face down. I lifted up and loudly objocted
when a male police officer lifted a female and
unzipped her clothing. "Don't open that woman's
Clothing.”, I said. Then a ‘peacer’ officer
dressed in black tells the offending officer
“take hin', pointing to me.

Police, who had just wrongly knock me down and
failed to inquire my medical condition and then
targeted me for speaking ageinst their
huniliating behavior, ordored me to 'got up and
walk'. These officers were clearly frightening
and bulling not just me, but attacking the vory
nt. T could not and will mot

bodily harm, and packed in a 'paddy wagon' of
compatriots, some already good friends and more
to become so.

About 5 hours after the arrest we entered a 4
ehicago police station (the furthermost in the
city from the demonstration) which already
contained unnumbered peaceful marchers who had
been arrested the day before. We were all held
in crowded conditions, without a phone call or
blankets, and without food (and without even
toilet paper.) Police refused to release
protesters on 'I-Bonds' and refusod to allow

phoned the police statios
only to be told thore loved ones were not there
or were unknown.

ALL vas not bad though. I very much enjoyed
the conpany of others in protest, and T know this
experience of camaraderie and feeling of cause

will add meaning and comfort to my life

I'm now out of jail with 24 hours of intensive
activist training a new vision and a
strengthened voice. T am left with only one
Tegret. I left the Jail before a dozen or so
persons wio had been held significantly longer
than me. I thank our families and friends, the
National Lawyers Guild, and the American Priends
Service Committee for standing vigil and
organizing bail donations. Only by the efforts
of these heroes was I able to greet my 3-year old
girl today

So many people in this sicko country have no clue how corrupted and
pointlessly they are living the days of their lives, nor what t feels like to
consciously be a good person, help sclf and others and how rewarding,
satisfying and pleasurable legitimacy is. They're hopelessly mired in the
psychopathology of this greedy system and take sick pleasure from
hurting, instead of helping others.

‘The leaders are heartless millionaire/murderers and to keep the
system in place, they have to instll their hateful anti-human “ideology™
into the dupes who do the nuts and bolts functions to keep things in
place. I's a system that does not replenish what it uses - but lays waste
to people, land, water, animals - everything, including the ability to think
rationally and productively. The language itsclf is polluted with
endlessly repeated buzzwords like “terrorist” “anarchy” “gangs” etc.,
cte. that only serve to confuse, dummy.down and reinforce the
“necessity” of rich people laws and authority.

Poor people aren't angels either, mainly because they 100 have been
infected with these sick ideals promulgated by American society.
Money is the ultimate goal. Screw everybody else. Take as much as you
can steal. Don't be kind to anybody. Fuck everything! 1¢'s a throw-
away life where nothjng matters. Who cares about a sustainable future?

The PI (Punishment Industry) is like a big drain sucking down all the
refuse from a wasteful, callous society. 1t's like a lamprey
overwhelming a fish. More and more people are forced to deal with the
police, courts, judges, prosecutors, lawyers, prisonkrats, parole officers -
and these are people who know or are related to people in prison, before,
during and after!! It's destroyed the black community!

Massive round-ups and exploding populations of prisoners are fully
factored into their expansion plans. It's total war around the world, and
here at home! All the young, black men are missing!

Rich, suited, “white” men need not concern themselves - unless they
open their mouths and express human outrage over the domestic social
holocaust &/or the looming horrific genocide being prepared.

It's an upheaval and assault so all-cncompassing, that people are
flung into it like a vicious riptide - powerless to hide and try to ignore it.

‘The politicians are pieces on a game board - except for the cabal of
bloodthirsty monsters ordering the military to unleash “Death From []
Above.” The real moneymen - the heavies of industry drive the
cconomy and thus, the politics. Socially and psychologically, the culture

When Ariel Sharon waged aggressive warfare on the citizens
of Lebanon In 1982, it was to make Israel “safer,” oot out

Does Israel enjoy more freedom, less terrorism and greater

The United States forced a similar invasion in 1991. Many
tens of thousands of Iraql people - soldiers and civilians - were
Kifled In a massive bloodletting campaign of Incineration. The
nation’s Infrastructure was destroyed and the U.S. betrayed
anti-Hussein rebels, which led to the torture and slaughter of tens
of thousands more by Saddam’s sadists, as the U.S. military
treacherously stood by on orders from the politicians in
Washington, led by George Herbert Bush.

In the 1980's, the policy of the U.S. government was to fuel
the Kkilling of as many Arabs as possible. They armed Saddam to
Kill Iran'’s troops and armed Iran to kill Iraq’s troops.

A dozen years of sanctions (1991-2003) crushed a whoie
generation of Iraql’s children. Gruesome death from preventable
diseases and genocidal, forced starvation was visited upon
several hundreds of thousands more by the U.5. govemment’s
grim reaper “pollcy.”

Now, we have invaded the whole country, killing thousands
every day with otherworldly camage.

I's not just the Palestintans seething with suicidal rage
against Israel, anymore. The whole Arab worid is aflame against
Israel and the U.S., due to these "policies” of dealing with
perceived opposition by mass murder and society-wide suffering.

Saddam Hussein is a monster from Hell - no question! But,
ever since he murdered his way into pawer, the U.S. has helped
him kill Iraqis, Kurds, Shiltes and Iranians! This complicity
cannot be called “democracy” or “freedom!” How can we expect
the Iraqi people to trust us, given our Idi Amin-like track record?

Sure, a nation of 300 miffio can militarity-crustram atready-
eviscerated natian of 26 millian. Are we supposed to be proud of
that? The “reason” we went in was to Foot out “weapons of mass
destruction.” This has so far proven to be a ruse. But no one (in

this country) seems to give a damn about that anymore. We are

all just supposed to “support out troops” and-not bring-up-the /7
unpleasant truth, which is that our government sent our sons and
daughters to go murder many, many people in quest for oll and
power.

Most of the rest of thie world s also aghast at our rogue state
“shock and awe” aggression. Yau can't bamb and shaot your way
to “securityl” When you have embittered a whole people, the
survivors will not forget what has happened. Might does not
make right and professed “good intentions” which are nothing
more than vile lies, do nat wash to etemally suffering people.

We've opened Pandora’s Box with these Sharon-style tactics.
But then, we were always the biggest genosadist on the block!
The Arabs feel that we are the *Great Satan" because we have
invaded their countries and bombed them so savagely. Our
“show of force” tanks entering Baghdad, are like Isaret's tanks-in-
the West Bank, an a colossal scale. We gun dawn demonstrators
by the dozens and have had a hand in the suffocation and
shooting of thousands of captured Taliban P.O.W's, ala Bosnia.

We're very strong militarily, but our credibility is weak and
we're still only 5% of the-world‘s poputation. Is it-our-legacy-to.
be the warld’s death squad police force, with “shoot to kill” as our
“policy?” Massive, heavy bombing and child murdering are what
fascist governments force citizens of other countries to endure.

When Hitler invaded Russia, many welcomed them as
“liberators” tou - atfirstt But, you can't mass murderyour way
into someone’s heart! Nor can you impose your “values” at
gunpoint. There must come a point where the citizens at home
refuse to be associated with such damning, ultra sinfulness.

It's good to see most all religiouns are taking a position for
peace. The seriaus sacial prablems are not gaing away bere at
home because of our “victory.” Much money, resources and lives
have been wasted by our government's reckless, callous,

embassy in Saigon looked like “defeat,” the sinister U.S. government
attained their main objectives in their lengthy aggression in Vietnam,

somewhere! A revolution in homegrown morality must
occur. The world is looking fo the American people for
salvation - from the threat of the American government!

America comprises 5% of the world's population, yet
usurps 30% of the world's resources - six fimes our share!
Yet, poverty, hunger, destitution, homelessness and fear are
all around us! Two billiort people all over the world are
struggling fo live, dying from hunger and disease, menaced
by war - denied the basic compassion we all owe
eachother - a chance at a real life! It's not right! We have
the technology and the ability to provide enough for alll

Two milion men and women are in prison in this locked
down country! That's one-quarter-of all prisoners in the
world! We have more prisoners than China and they have
five times as many people! We have more than Russia,
even! The rate of incarceration of blacks is more than
double that of South Africa, when apartheid was at its worsi!

Every black person in America has family members fiving In
cages! The rale of incarceration for so-called “white 3§
people” is much higher than any country in Europe, as well!
It's an out and out, “War on the Poor!" The punishment
industry is aboul the only business in America that is growing
~that and the military! It seems the only jobs our children
have to look forward to, are as prisoners, prison guards of in
the military! This is absolutely and fotally unacceptable!

Drug addiction, despair, hopelessness and lack of
opportunities are not crimes! They are serious social
problems. The solution is not to shove people info prison! In
fact, the crime is the punishment! The real criminals are
never prosecuted! The people who steal billions and kill
people in droves run the inslitutions! There is no
accountability for prosecutors, judges and ofher gate-
keepers fo the gulags. Only the litlle guy is siammed!

Slavery never ended! Sweatshop slavery, sexual slavery,
wage slavery and prison slavery are everywhere - all over
the world, including all over Americal Govemments
throughout the world have their guns pointed at fheir own
people. Oursis no difierent! They're busy right now fipping
up the Bill of Rights and building new prisons!

Who is benefitling from all this plundering? Who is doing
all this evil to everybody? More importantly, why are we
allowing it fo happen? “Same old, same old" has got to be
Stopped! If we don't stand & rise up, itll just get much worse!

People are highly social crealures. We thrive in
eachofher's company, helping eachother and loving
eachother and sharing what we all have. A healthy
community Is much like an evolving family. We naturally
concern ourselves with the well-being and happiness of
eachother's lives, which in tum, enriches our own lives.

But, in today's environment, we are alomized, fearful and
suspiclous of eachother and bombarded with images of
violence. There are reasons we are being diverted from
jiving normal, thinking, loving lives. There's a method to the
madness of official lies! Dischord translates info weakness.

‘We must re-discover our souls and those around us. We
have a lot to offer eachother and can't progress and live in
harmony groping through life by our lonesome selves! We
must help eachother overcome our fear. For when we do
that, our valuable polentials can become fully released!
The truth will set you free, even though it is almost 3L
unbearably brutal nowadays! We all have unique talents
that we deserve to share and leam from. We have to stand
up fo the bullies, whether they be physical or psychological.
Lies must become a thing of the past. Nofhing can stop the
loving truth! Those with the least, can offen see the clearest.
The meek must become strong, not fo just “inherit” the
world, but fo actually, liberate if! It starts right here!

Things aren't just good and evil. Complicated forces are
in play that influence and effect how things come down.
Earthly reality is explicable. Lies, distractions, infimidation
and noise can be sifted through and the empowering truth
can be evaluated and strategies can be formulated and
correcting actions can be taken and defended. We have
no choice. We have lo explain the problems and fight the
fights. We have to become the force for changel

It's not an incomprehensible nor hopeless situation, by
any means. Infact, once each and every one of us gets
busy and begins fo discover and offer our unique
contributions to and for eachother, life takes on another
dimension. | can only liken it fo the thiill experienced by
new parents. Many of you know about fhe exponential leap
your life has taken, once that happened! Praise the Lord,

into fhe future is our joyous lifelong obsession - our most
important dutyl We are the stewards for our children’s future
viability. We're the present-day ancestors, we all revere.

We've gotta cross the fear line. It's there and iI's very
scary. We need fo feel and experience the adage that "we
have eachother.” We don't need the television or all the
other junk that is shoved down our thioats, used fo keep us
from thinking genuinely and productively about things. We
need lo learn how to think in unseliish ways, useful, insightful
enlightened ways, which will nourish our lives in ways that
gvery penny of Bill Gates’ money could never buy! To work
in solidarity with others with the goal of genuine inclusive
social justice, is living life at its most thrilling and rewarding!

People all over the world are by necessily, doing fhe
same thing - fighting, struggling, building community. They
are looking to us fo show the way. They love us American
citizens and they feel for what we are going through, but
they're afraid of what our government will do or allow their

evil puppels lo do. We have 1o be responsible for changing
what is going on in this country. We have to be the ones 37
who stop Big Brother in his fracks! It's up fo us to turn this
whole thing around! We must summon our collective
morality, clear our throats and set to work! Simple as that!

It's all about resolve. It's about doing the right thing and
having the faith that we'll have eachother fo rely upon. Ii's
about figuring out the best way we can apply In practice the
power of love that beats in our hears. Lok out, world,
because we're gonna show what the Southside of Chicago
is truly all about! Anything is possible, with the wilpower of
Southside soull Like Frederick Douglass said, back in 1857
“Without Struggle, There is.no Progress.” $b, let's get it on!

In that spiit, we have created an umbrella group of
organizations, we are calling SOUTHSIDE CITIZENS'
COALITION, composed of dedicated community activists,
chuich graups, environmentalists, grassrools organizers,
gang interventionists, prisoner supporters, family members
and other concerned cifizens. Nofice | said “citizens!” We
will not be beholden to the political or business powers that
be, what-so-ever! We have our integrity fo consider!

Before | pipe down and allow other speakers to deal
more specifically and mayhaps more calmly with the Issues,
1 dlso want to mention this. We ask for your help. We need
you - the cilizens of Robbins, the cilizens of Harvey, the
cltizens of Chicago Heights, people from all over this place,
fo step forward and volunteer fo offer your insight and your
energy. We want fo initiate survival programs for those who
need help Immediately, whether they need food or clothing,
or shelter, toys for their children - whateverl We need to
offer our support for victims of violence, whether it's being
caused by the police, so-called “gangs" or in the home.

The twenty-one young people who died at the E2 were innocent
casualties in the war being waged on American cifizens. Their
futures and the hopes of their fomilies were honifyingly suffocated!

Mayor Daley was a big player back in the day when he was an
aggressive prosecutor, who was involved in jacking up the pace of
racist incarceration, putiing innocents on death row and
demonizing young black men and women. Jesse Jackson has long
abandoned genuine struggle and is a sl for “Black capitalism" -
the exploitation of blacks, by blacks!

As many young blacks and other poor people are already
‘warehoused and locked-down in countless gulags, family fife has
been devastated and opportunifies are minimal. The “legitimate™
exploiting businesses have cut out the black community fo super-
exploit third-world sweatshop warkers, over the border.

Social services, food stamps, cheap housing, unemployment
benefits, welfare, breakfast programs, medical care, child care and
other basic survival aid programs, have been gutted by Clinton and
Bush, implementing “Reaganomics.” So for many, the only avenue
of revenue (drugs) is dangerously illegal and a lucrafive punishment
industry feeds off the repression of those involved, as well as many
others. Two milion - 1/4 of all the world's prisoners are in U.S. prisons!

Owners of some clubs are pressured by the powerful forces of big
business and govemment, who often scheme on their properly for
profit(gentification.) With so many laws with harsh penalties for
code violations, to pay for various ficenses, security, insurance and
50 0n, no wonder so few clubs where young black people can be

stay in business.

Enter Jesse Jackson and his buddies. They play the game and
play it well. Jesse recently went down fo Hopkin's Park and fold the
folks down there to accept an 1,800 bed women's prison in their 800

Iving in cages and forget about systematic evil and fry and grab
some cash. I's “all about the money” remember? His son,
Congressman Jesse Junior, does similar fype work, pushing for

intention of enforcing. Chicago Police Superintendent Hiliard has
worked security for Jackson, on occassion. To hear fhem falk,

My address today is about the network of serious prisoner support
groups we have recently forged, ABC-Net. But before I alk about
that, I want to set the table, so o speak. | want to explain my
anarchist position on prisons and society, review recent
developments and touch on ofher projects I'm involved with.

Anarchists believe prisons are an abomination. The punishment is
the crime! Those who sitin judgement, the police, lawyers,
prosecutors, judges, wardens, guards and polificians are players in a
vast criminal enterprise - @ profit-diven punishment industry that is
funded by monies extorted from cifizens (i.e. taxes.) not just for profit,
but as the main repressive means fo keep aracist, theft-based,
socio-economic class system, creaking along. The world gets bombs
and we get bars. It's on astounding reality that most avoid thinking
about clearly, much less really doing much of anything to explain or
fight it. So,1focus my attention on the subject.

Real. massive crime - he theft of hundreds of billions of dollars
(like the Savings & Loon pillaging or the recent tax torrent fo the
already rich) and constant genocide, (Vietnam, efc.) siavery,
‘Whether it be wage. prison, sexual or some ofher form, are not
considered crimes, nor prosecuted. Instead they are codified info
law. which we're fo hold in some sick reverence, from the
Constitution - a slaver's document - on down!

The Amerikan authorities are thus unfettered in their criminality.
They have vast, heavily-armed, frained gangs of killers and keepers.
They even have many of us believing that this arangement is fo be.
known os “freedomi” If we don't like it, we can go to Russia - like fhe
Jews forced out of Austria and Germany in the thirfies. Then again,
there’s always jail. For Blacks, it's an inevitabilty.

The cops are told to round-up so-called “gang members” - black
teens with litfle crack rocks in their pockets, while the banks who.
launder billions in drug profits, are protected by the “law!"

I1's class war, pure and simplel Many U.S. companies uprooted
their operations, along with hard-won wages and benefits, from
working class America fo super-exploit sweatshop labor in fhird world
countries. This was most devastating to the communities of color.

Insanely. the level of one's amount of the skin pigment, melanin,
plays a unique-to-the-world difference, in this land groundedin S
human slavery! Of course, “officially” the U.S. legal system now only
tolerates wage and prison siavery. This siavery is solemnly and
unquestioningly codified info law. So much for any real freedomi

Social programs, fo balm the outrages of capitalism, such as
affordable housing, welfare, food stamps, child-care or heaven
forbid - medical care - have all but been eliminafed by Clinfon and
the two Bushes, inplementing “Reaganomics.’

Nancy Reagan's “War on Drugs" is playing itself out as the most
convenient avenue of repression and destined to overwhelm state
tax coffers. Social programs and education willsuffer, but the guiag
system of every state will confinue to expand and warehouse young
black, lafino and poor “whites." Nixon is the brainchild of this
madness (“war on drugs") much as Henry Kissinger is the one who
first formulated the “policy” which hese megalomaniacal monsfers
consider “justification” for the upcoming genocide in Iraq.

So, vast numbers of citizens are squeezed out of a chance at
providing even the basic necessities for their families. They feel
compellied to tum fo illegal drugs fo generate money fo subsist
upon. This is happening 1o tens of millons of families - even though
our country, with 5% of the world's population, usurps 30% of the
world's resources. Desfitution and suffering are rampant anyways!

A demented consumerist culture, glorying in images of uniformed
violence, devoid of genuine political understanding, subjected o
the demonization of “non-white" peoples (especially Arabs
nowadays) is incessantly foisted on us, shoved down our throats and
hammered info our heads. A “numbing” of fhe senses occurs, along
with a uined sense of polifical reaiity. A stulffied sense of empathy
for others sets in and the desire to “not have fo think about ifi” takes
priority. The passively obeying sheep are branded with a Nike
swooshl

People instinctively feel this os a heavy insult to their humanity
and harbor seething if vague, resentment for the system. Many are
psychologically battered by such a pathological environment and
feel o panoramic kaleidoscope of alienated emofions, phobias,
fears, obsessions, addictions andllusions. Lovelessness, confusion,

anger, rage, self-hate and suicidal thoughts are epidermic. i
Legal drugs such as prozac, ritalin, thorazine, valium and an
exploding number of ofhers, are increasingly used fo keep fhe very
young fo fhe very old in an addictive stupored state, their mental
faculfies anested. They are unable fo think logically and crifically,
much less acling responsibly about things Ihey don't adequately
know about. It's ike the home security devise demanded by fhe
court, placed upon your own will Many live a hollow shell existence.
The one drug thaf does have fremendous positive benefits
(marijuana) - capable of providing food, fuel, clothing, medicine
and recreational applications, is toxically “ilegall” It grows wild
without fertiizer and for a while it was illegal not to grow it during the
desperate colonial fimes. This plant is now coupled with terrorist
fearmongering. So, instead of the dreaded commies, these days
we're supposed to be worried about Muslim Fundamentalists and
“narco-terroristsl” Oh, and | mustn't forget the catch-all "anarchist.”
*Anarchy” is what must be avoided at all costs and why we must
pour on the military and "save” the world with bombs!
Hundreds of thousands of U.S. cifizens are forced o live in cages
for many years for the mere possession of the flower of this plant]
1 believe marijuana’s real "crime s that instead of duling the
Thinking processes as required by authority-think, instead, horror of
horrors, it enlivens the brain. Which, of course, is the last thing the
authorifies want fo see happen. They need people gung-ho guliivle.
See, Manis the dumbest animal on Earthi He's got the best brain,
but he only uses about 10 or 20% of f, whereas ofher animals by
necessity, use about 80% of their brains. We should use our brains!
During chattel slavery. it was ilegal o teach a slave how fo read.
in today’s world, the dumbing.down is @ multi-pronged assault on
our senses, used fo keep us from leaming how to think, stay docile,
believe collosal fies andl do what we are fold. For, if you get out of
fine, you'll go to prison. You have the freedom not fo fike it, but must
sit quietly as they steal, rob and kill, while he world bleeds fo deatht
Studies show that passive televison watching shuts down the
development of the brain. An incredible 4 hours per day is the
national averagel That's 1/6th of our entire lives devoted to this
surending of ourselves. Add video games, movies, the computer
and Big Brother has unlimited access to mold our minds. Why else
would we cheerlead for the mass murder of our fellow humans?
Prisoners are just an extension of the working class. They're forced
1o work dangerous jobs without wages or any safeguards, receive
fertible medical treatment, minimal education, recreation and live in
cages, subject fo the constant hreat of violence and torture. The
business of Amerika, as fifled by Wiliam Blum's book, which
chronicles the devastation caused by the USS. the last sixty years, is

Kiling Hope. Every black family has ot least one member in prison.

So. you have a highly dysfunctional society whose “giowlh S
industry" is repression. Whether it is the so-called prison-industricl
complex, which | call the punishment industry. or the military, what
kids have fo look forward fo, is @ job as a prisoner slave laborer, a
prison guard or s a frained murderer, controlled by fhe military.
These are prisoners oo, as you can't quit that job. You have fo go
“AWOL" Their prisons are called “brigs!”

These lines are being blured further by the nazis now in power in
Washington. The lost two years, all the military bases have
undergone extensive consiruction in order o house 40,000 people
without charges, lawyers or rights. These are designed for American
citizens and not just those of Middle Easter descent who are being
fargetted for round-up right now. Al Americans will be targetted,
whether you are red, white, black, pink or blue - if you raise your
voice in profest and organize against this insanity. The “terrorists” will
be those among us who have the moraiity and courage fo resist this
goose-step fowards death. Many fypes of new prisons for regular
cifizens are also on the drawing boards in every single state,
regardless of the massive deficis they are all saddled with.

Once the “shock and awe" ultra genocide is unleashed on the
long suffering Iraqi people like @ nightmare invasion from outer
space, the world must and will erupt. Govemments will be toppled
and many people will be gunned down in the sireets and rounded-
up by local puppet govemments, who are equipped and trained by
their US. masters. No doubt, S forces will be dispatched to many
places fo oversee and orchesfrate state suppression.

The US. will not be exempt from this deadful scenario. We're the
home of the latest and most horific clinical forture chambers. The
people entrusted to run these sadiitic death kamps are highly
frained and fhoroughly brainwashed by the anii-human ideology
pushed by the milionaires and bilionaires who run this country and
menace the world. They have everything to lose, if their beyond e
system s successfully junked. So, expect zero concem for human fife.
Mammoth bulidozers will be burying many thousands of charred
corpses as "Death from Above" the maxim of the 82nd Airbome
Division, wil rain down on counfless innocents worldwide.

Thisis an extraordinary fime - like 1848 or 1917, only exponentially
much more crucial. The fate of the world and the viabilty of ife
ifself, hangs in the balance. We're incredibly lucky to be alive at this
point in hisfory and it is our moral duty fo throw ourselves into the fray
on the side of life, liberly and jusfice.

The whole world's watching and paricipating. Everyone is
depending on us - the American people - fo put a stop 1o this

beyond genocidal blood lust psychosis, that the crusading fascists s
are forcing upon us all. Anarchists will be in the thick of every fray!

We've got fo leam how fo give a damn and overcome decades
of dreadiul self-deluding condifioning and not be so goddam selfish
with our empathy, our fime and our love. For, it's not just the rest of
the world that is being crushed underfoot and incinerated en masse
by our tox paid for death machines. It's our own children's future!

Friends, the war has come home with a vengeance and can't be
ignored. It's the logical progression of he unfolding of events -
cause and effect.

Years ago, growing up in a highly political family and being
involved in a lot of social agitation in the 60's and 70's, | determined
in my mind what my life’s work would have fo be. | would become a
wiiter, an organizer, a revolutionary. Seeing Fred Hampton get
murdered, seeing the years of daily camage in Southeast Asia, the
excruciating death squad butchery throughout Central and South
America and the suffering and dying in Africa and the Middile East,
was very scary. As s, seeing the daily 24-hours-a-day Mengelesque
psychological torture and deprivation that is sadisfically infiicted
upon those who raise their voice in defense of their fellow prsioners
or to explain what is actually occurting behind the razor wired walls.

So, I'm living the “American Dreaml” | was able fo cross the fear
line and feach and compel myself to become what | wanted fo
become - a canary in the minefield of ideas. | focus on prisoners
because they represent ground zero of the siruggle in this country.
There is @ fremendous need to help these Brothers and Sisters and
ihe level of genuine support is sfill shamefully meager. A responsible
person goes where he or she is needed the most and where their
skills can be utilized most effectively. To me. it's a no-brainerl

I've done other projects foo. | co-founded STAND - Shut This
Aiport Nightmare Down, a grassroos cifizen's group fighting the.
unneeded, wasteful, polifical boondoggle known as the Peotone.
Aiport. Recently, we made a spectacle calibre issue of a home
demolifion in the waning days of the Ryan regime. About a hundred
cifizens and supporters came out on a bitterty cold January moming
fo bear witness o the senseless destruction of a farmhouse in the
Peotone Airport “footprint.” A.P. and the Washington Post covered
. 50 the story and these images went around the country.

Recently, | was instrumental in creating an umbrella coaition of
grassroofs groups in the south suburbs called Southside Cifizens"
Coalition. We are composed of progressive black churches, who
oppose the attempted domination by the Jacksons, community
organizations, gang interventionists, grassroofs organizers,
environmentalists, ex-prisoners, supporters and family members as
‘well as other concemed citizens. People from Chicago fo Kankakee

and Gary fo Joliet are involved to arficulate the
citizen's point of view, not beholden fo any poiitician or business
interest. We have many projects we are working on, such as a
Southside Stolen Lives chapter, which is composed of family
members of those murdered by the authorifies in the streets and in
the gulags. We're going to launch a monthly néwspaper, entitied
llinois News. James Taylor, who ediis the third largest black
newspaper in lllinois, City News, out of Kankakee, will edit it.

We had a well-attended meefing at a Baptist church in Robbins
on March 15t and will hold citizen forums in several towns and work
'on many issues that concem the people down there. This is a high-
octane group of thinkers and doers. To me, it s the effervescence of
lite fo collaborate with such exceptional and wonderful people!

Also, I've been a main organizer for the now, weekly anfi-war
demonstration held in front of a gas stafion in Park Forest. There was
abig, front page story on us and others in the Daily Southtown last
Sunday, enifled, “Waging Peace.” Thisis the first fime these fypes of
demonstrations have occurred in the south suburbs since fhe
Vietnam era, except for the lonely vigil my then two year old son
Stanton, and | had, during January of 1991. Last Saturday, over 100
people rallied against this horible looming siaughter in Joiiet, as well.

1 work daily on prisoner publications, leffer writing and other
support work, as well as involve myselfin the many issues affecting
the southside. Many of my letters and analyses are prinfed in the
suburban papers and in various underground publications. | un a
distro of these powerful zines and have several dozen different ones
available and send them out far and wide either very cheaply or
free. This s ail done out of my own wage slave pocket because | see
«acrying need for such a thing. Empowering ideas are invaluable!

Now, as for the ABC - Anarchist Black Cross - several autonomous
chaplers, including the Chicago chapter, established last spring,
forged ourselves info a network at an infensive conference down in
Ausfin, Texas last July. | cid a presentation, as did Lorenzo Komboa
Ervin, the former anarchist polifical prisoner, whose wrifings on the
subject backin the 80's laid the groundwork for fhis movement.
Robert King Wilkerson, recently freed member of the Angola 3 spoke,
as did former anfiracist polifical prisoner Chris Plummer and ABC
activist, Emesto Aguilar. Several others did workshops on fhis
weekend. There was a comucopia of explosively insightful zines!

My talk was mainly two essays | read written specifically for this
conference, fifled, “Working Up Effective Anarchy” and “A Mindset
of Purposefulness.” We agreed to embark on several projects and
estabiish a national office in Ausfin. | agreed to write a report on fhe
conference, see that the newsletter of fhe MPLU (Missour Prison
Labor Union) entitied “Off The Hook" was published and distributed.

publication, ABC Network Zine #1. | brought several of these zines.
The Chicago ABC chapter organized a support rally and march
on October 20th at Cook County Jall, which saw several groups
represented and was much appreciated by the prsioners
‘warehoused there. We've been very active supporiing Chicago
poitical prisoner Richard M. Flood and other Midwestem prisoners.

Richard Flood is a dear friend of mine who was sentenced fo fen
years in prison last September for fhe “crime" of rescuing his wie
from a dangerous assault by three crack-addled assailants down in
Crete, in Will County. At one point they offered him a "dedl” that it
he pled "guilty." he would have been freed by Christmas of 2001.
Guilt and innocence are irelevant to these evil judges and
prosecutors. They are info ruining peoples fives - especially f they
have a history of challenging the system. His wife and five teenaged
chidren live down by me in the Peotone Alrport “footprint.”
Recently, their youngest daughter, who goes to the same junior high
as my own son, fried o commit suicide, so disiraught is she by the
loss of her father. | have @ powerful 80 - paged zine detailing
Richard's case, showcasing his briliant poiifical analysis and
detaiing the Cook County Jail rally.

Many zines dealing in depth with these and other cases have
been pubiished by me and are available through my distro.
Chicago ABC people were also prominently involved in fhe protests
in December, when the capitalists met in Chicago and Daley
responded with a force of 2,000 policel The one person arested
that day was an animal rights anarchist, charged of course, with
“cruelty fo animais!” The cops made their poor horses were These
disorienting shields, which spooked some of them, as they were
pushed upon the crowds. Mike, the vegan animal rights guy didn't
s0much as fouch a horse, but his case is sill dragging on.

Several new chapters have been started and nurtured along by
information and mentoring provided by Chicago ABC and other
chapters. These are in places lie Wisconsin, Lawrence Kansas,
Aianta Georgia, St. Louis Missouri and other places. New collectives
are springing up in places like Costa Rica, Puerfo Rico, Argentina
and ellewhere. It's part of the growing infemational resistance fo
capitafism and more specifically, the punishment industy. We are
prison abolifionists and have faken these arguments fo the next
level. Like the Iraqi people, prisoners are not our enemyl

The Chicago ABC Zine #1is a pofent fract that has given hope
and empowerment fo prisoners and strong arguments for activists. It
has an extensive contact st to help knit the struggle along.
Although the Chicago anarchist scene is far smaller than it should
be, itis recognized as an infensely active and arficuiate one.
Indeed, the serious work being done here in Chicago is recognized

around the world by those who know about these things, as being of
a unique importance. This flow of adamant anarchist thinking and
organizing will confinue, develop and be increasingly more S
effecive. Chicago-style plainspoken struggle is most desirable!

1 will continue to stock infoshops with prisoner and/or anarchist
zines and keep doing what | can to educate, mofivate and
empower people - inside and out - info becoming more active
partisans in this intemational war. I'l help organize meefings,
demonstrations, publicafions fo raise issues and speak the frufh.

This war is not a war of “democracy” versus “terrorism.” 's a war
of fascist globalization against the people of the world. Far and
away, the biggest terrorists are given their assignments by
govemments - especially you know who! At this fime of blatant
repression and witch hunt hysteria against any dissent, it is especially
important fo stand up fo the irational wave of patriotic
obsessiveness. Speak the fruth and fight for life! Stop the Warl

We need fo work with extra determination and dedication in a
spiit of genvine solidarity. In these perilous fimes, people respond fo
the call for peace and justice knowingly and we can't dissipate our
energies sniping af ofher groups we may have disagreements with.
The watchword should be, “Let's work with whoever s wiling fo get
the job done!" If's necessary and besides it is interesting and fun
working yitit new people who share your sense of commitment.

The next network conference will be held in Eugene, Oregon in
August. I'll give a presentation for that conference, I'm sure. Our
advocacy for universal liberation is gaining strength, as more people
become aware of our growing media outlefs and realize what we.
are saying s all foo frue. Prisoners help spread fhe word enormously,
both inside and fo their outside contacts, which is one reason that
the prisonkrats have stepped up their repression on them. Gulag
censor frolls are falling all over fhemselves censoring mail, tampering
with it stealing stamps, publications and money from prisoners.
Many have been transfered fo harsher units and prisons and been
Punished exira for being @ part of fhis movement. Nonetheless, they
continue to provide insightful analysis and incredible artwork fo
capture ihe essence of fhis siruggle as only they are able fo do. I'm
extremely lucky fo be collaborating with such talented comrades.

I1's really something! | find myself developing nicely as a sort of
roving free skool educafor on many subjects that the world so
desperately needs fo understand and yet, | have fo factor in the
realization fhat | am considered by the authrities as a sort of
“terroristl” The fruth s terible allight, but must be said. plain and
simple. No matter, | will confinue fo blurt out the undiluted rutht
